Athleticode’s APOE Test
At your physician’s office during the return to play process, DNA from a cheek swab is submitted and analyzed. The resulting information correlates the type of DNA an athlete has in the APOE gene. This information is provided to the athlete's physician, who often in concert with a certified athletic trainer will discuss the results with the athlete and, if the athlete is a minor, with his or her parents.
The test takes 7 days to process. The results are provided with educational tools that allow physicians to counsel athletes and their parents in the development of a personalized return to play protocol.
